Lauren & Mitch | Goulburn | pre-wedding session

Last weekend I went for a relaxing drive to Goulburn to meet up with these 2 lovely people (and their puppy dog) and to take some photos at their stunning new home and around the area. I had such a great time with them both.. I could have stayed and chatted with them for hours. Mitch is a great bloke & fabulous builder. He is responsible for their beautiful home (I will continue to try to get him to come over to perth and work on my new place :) ) Lauren is so sweet and has the most amazing eyes. They were both a little self conscious to start with but they were fabulous to photograph as they  have a relaxed and natural chemistry with each other.  I cannot wait to go back to Goulburn for their wedding in Feb!! Enough words..more pictures… xxx jk

Brittany & Joel | Married | Gerringong & Coolangatta Estate

Today was my last big wedding for the year..and what a way to go out in style! I had such a sensational day with Brittany & Joel and their fun family and friends. The weather this morning was overcast and the dark grey clouds almost taunted me as I drive down to  Coolangatta Estate . Just as I pulled up, the clouds parted and out came the sun..and it stayed for the rest of the day, almost like a blessing  on their day and their faith. It was great fun to get there for the girls preparation while they were having their stunning finishing touches by Cortney & Zoe (Powderpuff) and to sneak in to photograph their beautifully decorated room. We then drove to the Uniting church in Gerringong for an emotional, joyful and heartfelt ceremony. (I cried at least 4 times and my cheeks ached from smiling so much). It was a powerful celebration of their love for each other and God in their lives…and a true honour to witness. Off to explore Gerringong and a quick stop at seven mile beach on the way back to Coolangatta Estate for the reception. We had gorgeous sunshine, long grass, a black snake sighting, a bull ant incident, and a whole lot of laughter. These 2 are so delightful..totally in love, quick to laugh and so relaxed and easy to be around. They are genuine, sweet and just a bit cute too! Thank you B&J for being so open and up for anything, and for allowing me the great honour of capturing your day and your commitment to each other. I had a blast with you both ! enjoy this little preview of your day & have a cocktail in Thailand for me! xxx jk

Change is good, right? | studio news

It has been a crazy busy couple of weeks as the rush of October and November weddings settle down into December and I try to play catch up with my workload. On top of that, my hubby has started work over in the western state and only comes home on weekends (and I am now totally in awe of single parents…!) . I am have been in a blissful sate of denial about our move to perth (if you missed my news, you can read about it here) but the last few days the reality is settling in and I have felt myself teeter on the edge of emotional wreck a few times. I am excited about our move and the adventure that lies before us.., but I am also really sad to be leaving Wollongong, relocating my business and starting all over again. I have been happy here..very happy… and I am sure I will be happy in perth too …but that doesn’t take the sting out of leaving, and the change that comes with it, away.

Very soon I will be closing the studio doors and I will be relocating my business back to my home in Figtree until I move in June. I started my business in my home and so in some ways its nice to bring it home again before I sell up and move to the other side of the country! :) It will be easier to manage everything from one place (plus there is a fabulous business relocating to my premises and they need it sooner than later!) It will be sad to shut the studio doors ..I will be leaving a piece of my heart there (and a whole lot of paint too!) It has been a wonderful space that felt so much like me and gave me the opportunity to grow my business in ways I could never explain. I will miss my little space but I am sure she will treat her new owners very well! So after christmas, feel free to visit me at my home studio.. you will be very welcome (and we have plenty of chocolate here too!) xxx jk

p.s. I am getting lots of questions about my availability for weddings in Wollongong. I am still very much available and will happily travel back for weddings (2012 is almost full though)! I have quite a few weddings already booked for the end of 2012 that I will be traveling back for so if your dates align with weddings I have already booked, then there is no additional travel fees. Otherwise, there is a small fee to cover my flight and car hire.. Contact the studio for more information or if you have any questions..

  • michelle. save me some chocolate! would love to say goodbye to your beautiful studio xx
  • Lauren CUTE space... it will be sad to see it go, but a new chapter awaits in the west :)
  • Cathy Crawley Sniff sniff. Even I'm feeling a little sad about the thought of you closing this lovely space. I feel like we went through the setting up process together :( But as you say, change is good and you will do wonderful things in Perth. I just know it xxx
  • Carla Micucci When one door closes, another one opens.. It was such a privilege to come meet you those months ago and sit in your studio with you! I know no matter where you go, you will find something bigger and brighter! WA will be very, VERY lucky to have you! Mwah xxx
  • Kylie I have been in denial that you are taking your beautiful self (and family) and your wonderful talents to the other side of the country! Your bright and happy little studio really cheered up that street! Will be so sad to see it go :((
  • Anita :-( Sad you're leaving, but WA will certainly not disappoint! Think about all those beautifully back-lit situations, with a West Aussie sunset over the water. You'll be in your element and I can't wait to see what you can do with it. Get uncomfortable- you really do live by your word! :-) xoxo
  • Kate Ford This is so sad to hear Janine =( Your studio is so beautiful and you really made it your own. I'm sure you can find a new space to play with and create a beautiful studio. Change is very hard as it pushes us in various ways... however I'm sure you have the strength to make the change wonderful! =)
  • Renee Moore Good luck with the move :)

April & Steven | MArried | Killalea and Addisons

April and Steven are such a lovely people..relaxed, fun, easy going, understated and very much in love. They have been together since high school..12 years..and there were lots of jokes flying around the room about their LONG courtship, but you could see that didn’t matter at all. They have had some amazing experiences together..lots of traveling, adventures and decisions made together. You can easily see they are a perfect match and are destined to be together.. marriage was just a formal commitment of dedication they have already given each other for a lifetime together. My day was a breeze with these two. They just relaxed and enjoyed their day, nothing was too hard , and everything was done with relaxed style and a sense of fun. Plus, April has the most amazingly beautiful smile and Steven makes her smile so easily! Thank you A&S..I had such a great time with you guys …Have fun in Fiji! xxx jk
