Shannon family | Botanic gardens

During the week I had the pleasure of catching up with this lovely family who I have photographed for the last few years.. It was so great to see how much the kids had grown and developed..and of course to catch up with their loving mum & dad! The weather seemed against us but we avoided the rain, and with 3 kids under 5 it was a busy session, but I loved capturing their family and personalities at this stage of their lives.. xxx jk

Sandra & Alex | Married | Centennial Vineyard, Bowral

As I drove into Bowral yesterday afternoon, I watched a big black cloud come towards me and a chill started to creep into the air. I was worried for Sandra and Alex’s outdoor wedding ceremony plans but I was hopeful the rain would stay away just long enough. They had family coming from all over the world to witness this union.. Alex is from the UK and Sandra is Italian. Alex’s parents & cousins flew out for the wedding, along with a lot of Sandra’s family, who couldn’t speak english but knew how to celebrate well! It was a union of 2 best friends & 2 cultures of sorts!

They are both very family proud people and were surrounded by their close family as they both got ready at the Links House,. They even had family as their bridal parties…Sandra’s dress was stunning..the most lovely latte colour and suited her perfectly!and her elegant headpiece..lovely..sigh…Just as I pulled into the car park at Centennial Vineyards Restaurant , the rain started to fall. Within moments it was pouring and the ceremony was relocated quickly to inside the closed in verandah. The room looked amaizng..lots of wonderful rustic touches..including some beautiful big pomegranates that had special meaning for Sandra and Alex. The ceremony was sweet and moving..and they both couldn’t stop grinning..even when Alex’s mum loved all over him at the end!! A lmost as soon as the ceremony was over, the rain stopped, the big black cloud disappeared and we were treated to a beautiful afternoon for photos and celebrating filled with sunshine.. and a quick glimpse of a rainbow too..We happily wandered around the grounds of the Vineyard while the guests ate, drank and got to know each other..Amongst the vines..The beautiful late afternoon light…I love how happy these 2 make each other..lots of giggles and smiles (and friendly banter!)As the sun slowly set, we headed out the front to catch the last light…and the fairy lights..Then back inside for feasting, speeches, laughter, dancing , drinking, and even a bit of fun with a sparklers to top of my night! Thank you S&A for inviting me to be a part of such a special celebration. I adore you both and I am so thrilled you asked me to be there to witness your love for each other and your family and friends. Have fun continuing the celebrations with your overseas guests! xxxxxxxxjk

Gemma & Todd | Married | Tumbling Waters & Stanwell park beach

It was a beautiful day today…2 best friends saying “I do” to each other, an intimate ceremony with family and a close friend, a stunning location and lots of love & laughter…

Gemma looked so relaxed as she got ready at home. She looked so amazing in her beautiful dress (made by her Mum), her stunning Alannah Hill headpiece, amazing makeup by Cortney at Powderpuff makeup,  and the cutest havaianas!they wrote little notes to each other before the ceremony..I love these pics!Tumbling waters is an amazing venue with a breathtaking view. We had lots of mist and the threat of rain which made for lots of interesting clouds and light on the water… and a steady stream of hang gliders to watch too…The ceremony was sweet and fun and so heartfelt..a joy to witness. As always Carolyn from Ceremonies of Excellence did an amazing job! Then we were off to their favourite beach (and kiosk) for some photos..Back to Tumbling waters for their sensational dinner/reception …via Bald hill where the hang gliders provided lots of entertainment..
Thank you G&T for being so wonderful today. I adored spending the day with you and your families. I hope you like your little sneak peek..I’ll have more to show you when you get home from your honeymoon! Have a blast!!! xxxx jk

    availability for 2011 weddings

A few years ago I decided to limit the number of wedding commissions I took on every year so that I could give the best of myself (creatively and emotionally) to each and every one of my wedding clients..not just on their wedding day but every day. I wanted to be available for them and build our connection by maintaining regular contact. So much of what I do relies on our connection, our friendship and their faith in me…which I really cherish. Several weddings a weekend would not allow that..plus I would never see my family…plus their would be very little time to attend to the business aspect of running a business. So really I wanted to give the best of me to both my clients, my family and my business so something had to give.

The hard part for me is saying “no”..I love photographing weddings. They fill my soul and make my heart happy! But I have learnt that the “best of me” means setting limits for myself and sticking to them. With that in mind, I just wanted to announce that I have almost hit my limit…so to speak! LOL!  I will only take on a few more 2011 wedding commissions… so get in quick if you are interested in me telling your story.  Dates for 2011 weddings are VERY limited. (Dates for 2012 weddings are filling up but still available.)

and just because I can’t have a post without a picture….here’s a favourite image from an amazing wedding I captured in November. This image makes my heart sigh…the way he loves and adores her………  xxx jk
